The most exciting book event of the year is set to take place from 19th to 23rd March as MPH Bookstores will be organising the Putrajaya International Bookfair at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre. Inspired by a “theme park “ concept, visitors of the fair will be transported into a magical book town called the “BOOKERVILLE”. According to MPH Bookstores Director, Datuk Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman, the book fair is aimed to provide an enriching, educational and entertaining environment to visitors. 




“We hope that this event will not only serve as a place for people to shop for books, but also an event where people can have a good time with their family and friends” said Abdullah in his speech during a press conference. He also announced that the fair is expected to attract 300,000 visitors during the 5-days exhibition.



This book fair will feature more than 5 million worth of books offered at attractive prices in two exhibition halls. Spanning over 60,000 square feet of exhibition space, the fair will comprise of books, magazine, e-books, educational aids, stationery, digital and IT devices, toy and gifts. To add variety to the fair’s offerings, visitors can also expect to find a host of products and services for the family such as back-to-school items, healthcare and wellness packages, child enrichment programs, theme park packages and many more. 



Some of the event highlights include an International Storytelling Festival where storytellers from around the region will be invited to conduct workshops and stage performances to showcase the power and influence of storytelling. In addition, there will also be book talks, celebrity appearances and other fun activities for children including gaming challenges, arts and crafts sessions, role playing activities by Kidzania and a host of other exciting activities lined up for all age groups.



An award ceremony will also be taking place during the book fair to present the award to the winners of MPH Best of 2013 titles. These titles are chosen by a special committee based on the title’s sales performance at all MPH Bookstores nationwide and mphonline.com, reviews from top international websites as well as recommendations from a team of professional buyers. Through a careful selection process MPH has chosen 20 of the best titles from 6 categories comprising of English Non-Fiction, Paperback and Teens Fiction, Business, Malay Non-Fiction and Fiction. In conjunction with this, MPH will also be presenting the award to the winners of the Top Novelis Mutiara Minda contest, a nationwide contest that started in December last year to encourage aspiring Malay writers to come forward with their manuscripts. The Top 3 winning novels will be published by MPH Group Publishing.



Perbadanan Putrajaya’s President Tan Sri Aseh and MPH Bookstores Director Datuk Abdullah Abdul Rahman were also present to launch the PIBF Privilege Pass which entitles visitors to special privileges during the fair. Among some of the privileges are 30% discounts on standard fares on KLIA Transit. Visitors can now take the KLIA Transit to Putrajaya Sentral which is just a 20-minute ride from KL city center without the hassle of traffic and parking woes. In addition to this, Nadi Putra will also be offering free bus rides to PIBF visitors during the 5 days at selected pick-up points in Putrajaya. Other perks that visitors can enjoy from the pass include discounts on food and beverages at PICC, special hotel rates at Putrajaya Shangri-La as well as special privileges at the various attractions in Putrajaya including Cruise Tasik, Putrajaya City Tour and many more. The PIBF privilege pass will be available at all MPH outlets in the Klang Valley and distributed to selected residential areas in the Klang Valley from the 1st of March onwards. It can also be downloaded from the website MPHOnline.com. 



The Putrajaya International Bookfair is supported by Tourism Malaysia and promoted under the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 programme. Other government bodies involved are Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism and Perbadanan Putrajaya.
