DMCGG’s Moon of Compassion 2026 Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival Through Compassion and Community
The spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival took on a meaningful twist at Moon of Compassion 2026, organised by Persatuan Penganut Dei Mou Ciu Gwong Gung (DMCGG).
Held at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, the celebration brought together around 200 people from diverse cultural and community backgrounds for an evening of cultural traditions, community connection and giving.
Sharing Light, Sharing Love
Carrying the theme “Sharing Light, Sharing Love,” the event aimed to bring the traditional values of the Mid-Autumn Festival beyond the family table.
Instead, DMCGG created a space where people could come together and celebrate the universal values of gratitude, generosity, compassion and togetherness.
Damien Foo, Chairman of DMCGG, shared that cultural traditions can help bring people together and create greater understanding within Malaysia’s multicultural society.
«“Unity in diversity” is our biggest strength as a multicultural nation, and when we share what we have, a celebration can become something even more meaningful.»
Turning Celebration into Community Care
Moon of Compassion 2026 was not only about celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival. It also highlighted DMCGG’s ongoing efforts to support communities in need.
One of its initiatives is the Food Distribution Programme, which currently provides more than 200 meals every day to vulnerable urban families and low-income individuals across the Klang Valley.
For DMCGG, the values behind traditional festivals are universal. People from different cultural or religious backgrounds can all understand the importance of reunion, gratitude, sharing and helping others.
As Damien Foo explained, compassion is what brings these values together.
Encouraging the Next Generation to Give Back
DMCGG also hopes to inspire more young people to get involved in volunteerism and community service.
The organisation believes that volunteering can teach important life values such as empathy, responsibility and community spirit, complementing what young people learn through formal education.
Six Areas of Social Impact
Inspired by Dei Mou (Mother Earth), which represents selfless service, nurturing care and harmony, DMCGG focuses its social efforts on six key areas:
- Poverty alleviation and hunger relief
- Women’s empowerment
- Mental health and wellness
- Education
- Environmental stewardship
- Global humanitarian aid
Its work is guided by the principles: “Inspired by Compassion, Driven by Service, Nurturing Humanity.”
A Mid-Autumn Celebration with a Bigger Meaning
Moon of Compassion 2026 shows how traditional celebrations can become opportunities to build stronger communities.
By bringing people together through culture, giving and volunteerism, DMCGG hopes to encourage a more inclusive, compassionate and connected Malaysia.
The celebration was a reminder that the true meaning of the Mid-Autumn Festival can go beyond reunion at home — it can also be about sharing our light, sharing our love and caring for the wider community.
